The challenge

Compliance challenges in retail.

01

Shops & Establishments Acts, state by state

Registration, opening hours, weekly offs, rest intervals, leave and record-keeping depend on the state your store is in, and sometimes the municipality. What works in your Bengaluru store could be non-compliant in Hyderabad. We map the rules to each location and keep every store's paperwork current.

02

Minimum wage variations

Minimum wages vary by state, zone and skill category and are usually revised twice a year. A store associate and a cashier in the same city might sit in different categories. We update wage structures before a revision becomes a back-pay problem.

03

Festival and holiday overtime

Diwali, Eid, Christmas and end-of-season sales mean longer hours. Overtime limits, double-rate wages, holiday rules and weekly-off substitutions must match actual attendance. We reconcile rosters, punches and approvals so you can prove what you paid.

04

Part-time and seasonal staff

Short-tenure and part-time hires still create statutory obligations. Working hours, wage parity, registrations and contributions don't pause because someone joined for six weeks.

05

Women employees and late hours

Many states attach conditions to women working late shifts: consent, safe transport, security and records. We build these into your rosters and store checklists.

06

Hundreds of decentralised stores

Each store has its own manager and its own folder of documents. Without a single view, no one sees the gap until an inspector does.

Who we work with

The people we support.

01

Store associates and cashiers

Your brand at the counter. Many are early in their careers, paid by the hour or day and quick to notice a payslip error.

02

Shift supervisors and floor managers

Juggle rosters, absences and approvals all day and need clean data without extra admin.

03

Part-timers, students and seasonal hires

Join in waves before festive peaks and leave just as fast, so onboarding has to be quick.

04

Promoters and festive temporary staff

Sit between employee and contractor and carry a different set of legal questions.

Payroll, PF, ESIC, PT and Bonus: built for high churn

Retail payroll is rarely tidy. People join mid-month, work partial weeks, earn incentives and leave before the cycle closes. Each change touches a statutory obligation.

  • Provident Fund (PF)

UAN and KYC, joiner and exit processing, transfers between stores and monthly ECR filing. With high attrition, entries and exits are where errors creep in, so we keep records clean.

  • ESIC

Many store employees fall within ESIC limits, and incentives or overtime can push monthly earnings over. We monitor eligibility and file returns accurately.

  • Professional Tax (PT)

Slabs, due dates and frequencies vary by state, and some states don't levy PT at all. We apply the right rules at every store, including for staff who transfer between states.

  • Bonus Act

Eligibility, wage ceilings, percentages and set-on/set-off. We calculate the annual bonus accurately and keep registers and returns in order.

  • Incentives, commissions and part-time hours

Sales incentives, spot awards and commissions calculated on the right basis, with payslips staff can read without a calculator. Hourly staff are paid on actual attendance with contributions applied correctly.

  • Rapid joiners and leavers

Full and final settlements, leave encashment and notice recoveries processed quickly, so exits don't become disputes.

Outsourced vendors: shared floor, shared risk

Housekeeping, security, loading, merchandising teams and sales promoters keep your stores running. When a vendor slips, your brand is the one customers and regulators see.

  • Statutory adherence

Registrations, licences (including those specific to security agencies), PF, ESIC and wage records verified at onboarding and on a schedule.

  • Wage disbursement verification

We check bank transfer records, wage registers and attendance against the headcount actually deployed at your stores, and flag mismatches early.

  • PF and ESIC remittance checks

We confirm contributions are deposited for the workers placed at your stores, not just a sample.

  • Minimising principal employer risk

When you direct vendor staff like your own, the lines blur. We review arrangements and help you document control and responsibility correctly.

  • Vendor scorecards

A simple periodic rating for each agency on statutory compliance, payment timeliness and issue resolution.
